Used to Add Hair Extensions
There are a few things to consider when deciding on the method to use when having hair extensions added. These include your lifestyle, hair type, cost, and how long you want the hair extensions to last. There are 4 attachment methods to choose from. These include strand by strand, weft, clip-in, and micro-link skin weft. Here you will learn a bit about each method to help you determine which one is right for you.
Strand by Strand
This is a semi-permanent method where Eden hair extensions are attached to portions of your hair with a glue bond using warm or cold application techniques. A micro-link or glue application point is used to attach approximately 20-30 individual hairs to each section of hair. The cost depends on the brand of hair and how many strands are added. It costs approximately $1,000 to over $2,000, and last for up to 6 months with proper maintenance. This method is best suited for thick, coarse hair.
This is a semi-permanent method that uses a 2-4 inch wide wefts of hair applied in rows using polyurethane tape, glue or a sew-in method with braids. The cost varies widely from approximately $200-$2,000 depending on the brand of hair, the number of bundles used, and the type of application. The hair is typically reusable with this method, but it only lasts about 6-8 weeks. This method works best on fine hair, but it can be used on any hair type.
This is a temporary method that is perfect for those that don’t want to commit to maintaining hair extensions. The hair extensions are added using small pressure sensitive clips. A version known as halo extensions that uses an undetectable wire instead of clips is also available. The cost varies from approximately $200 to $2,000 based on hair type and brand. This type is easy to add on your own.
Micro-link Skin Weft
This is an invisible, semi-permanent method where hair is pulled through silicone lined micro-link skin wefts and clamped shut. Klix hair extensions is the only patented brand available for this method. Costs range from $400-$1,000 depending on the number of wefts used. This application method is too bulky for fine or thin hair. The extensions last approximately 12-24 months with proper maintenance.
